Gloucester Harbor Walk

Monument to those lost a sea

Last Sunday was a perfect day in New England. We don't get many of these kinds of days so it is a "must" to get out and enjoy them. Originally I thought of a hike at Crane Beach but with a $25 fee to get into the park, I decided to go to Gloucester instead.

Gloucester is only about 30 minutes north along the back roads of the North Shore. It is probably best known from the movie The Perfect Storm with Mark Wahlberg and George Clooney.  Gloucester is one of the oldest seaports in Massachusetts and boasts an incredible art community.

The Harbor Walk stretches along the coast and there are plenty of places to stop and enjoy the water or sit and relax with the sun on your face.

The walk takes you right into town where you can stop and get the best seafood (I'm talking Lobster!) in Massachusetts. Or buy some items at the general store and fix a beach side lunch. There are many restaurants and pubs if you just want to take a "load off" before you start your journey again.

I've been to Gloucester several times, and always see something new. I ventured up and down the streets and came across the local church that reminded me of Europe.

In Europe there are several churches with the same type of tiles. I probably have seen this church many times but didn't notice the tiles before.

The best thing about going to places you've been before is seeing them again for the first time.
